Heat And Rehabilitation

Heat is a powerful tool in modern rehabilitation.  The rise in temperature brings healing blood flow to the applied area and can relieve symptoms and increase healing speed.  Sessions should be kept under 20 minutes and give yourself at least an hour between sessions.  We at Advanced Chiropractic feel moist heat is preferred over dry in most situations and always have it at our disposal in the office.  Remember though- not all injuries improve from heat and that the underlying cause of your discomfort still needs to be addressed.  In fact, using heat in the wrong situation or improperly can increase symptoms and even make you condition worse.  NEVER sleep on a heating pad without consulting a physician as this can severely affect blood flow to the applied area.  Ask your Advanced Chiropractic doctor if heat is right for your situation.  Call us at 351-8500 for a free consultation!
